Spring Clean Up

Hi! This is Janelle telling you about Spring Clean Up here in Tuluksak. Today the whole school came together to clean up. We picked up trash outside, cleaned the school, and helped set up prom and graduation.
The reason why there is so much trash right now is because every year when the snow melts, all the trash that has collected over the year is left behind for us to clean up.
6th grader Jon said the best part of cleaning up was getting to be outside all day. My favorite part of today was not doing anything, just sitting and watching the others do the work while I ate candy and drank soda. Middle school teacher Mr. Dexter’s favorite part of the day was making students clean the garbage around the teacher housing.
7th grader Desiree's favorite part of the day was when she didn’t have to pick up any more trash. Middle school teacher Ms. Schnittker said she picked up all kinds of things, from diapers to an an eight grader’s old student certificate from the first grade for saying his ABC’s correctly.
The whole school had a good time being outside in the Spring sunshine and the village is looking a lot cleaner.
