Kuskokwim 300!

The K-300 happened this weekend. The mid-distance sled dog race goes from Bethel to Aniak and back, stopping in Tuluksak on both legs of the trip. Volunteers and spectators braved the cold to see the racers come in early Sunday morning.

Around 1 am, Paul Gebhardt was thefirst to arrive for his mandatory 4 hour rest. Mike Williams, Jr. was close behind. The two went on to be the first to arrive in Bethel respectively.

With the temperature around -20°, plus a steady breeze, a lot of people opted to stay indoors and wait for the mushers.

Volunteers prepared food for the mushers and volunteers. The fry bread was a definite highlight. Mushers also got a chance to warm up and get a little sleep.
